This website update has been a long time coming. It would be fun, convenient and easy to blame "technical difficulties" but the essential truth is "personnel problem", me. So anyway, there is a ton of new things, events, expeditions and shoots to catch up on.

In 2009, I continued exploring some of North American's truly wild rivers. In August, I paddled some 400+ miles down the Pelly River in the Yukon into the Yukon River and ended up in Dawson City, Yukon. An amazing journey, I shot some great wilderness scenery images; digital color & B&W film. The black and white material will be used for a photography book on North America's wilderness rivers which I am working to pull together.

This fall found me aboard the USS Chancellorsville, guided missle cruiser, accompanying the USS Reagan aircraft carrier's return to San Diego after 6 months doing stuff near Afganistan and chasing pirates off the coast of Africa. It was interesting to get another chance at a Tiger Cruise , see the aircraft carrier from a different perspective and experience life at sea aboard a smaller ship. Only now am I beginning to process the thousands of images from that adventure into both a color portfolio and a hand printed silver gelatin portfolio.

No sooner than arriving mainland from the Tiger Cruise, I headed off into Cuba; another phenomenal & stunning experience. Those portfolio's are backed up right behind the USS Chancellorsville ones. Up on this website are some of the first color digital images from all three of these 2009 photo ops. Traditional B&W's are slowly following and will get posted sooner than it took to up rev this website version.

The weekend of May 15 and 16, 2010 I will be either exhibiting at SVOS, Silicon Valley Open Studios or Los Altos Rotary Art in the Park. Stay tuned. On display will be new work, certainly from Cuba, some classic B&W's, and both wilderness river landscapes and naval aviation work.

Last July/August's solo show at the Black Iris Gallery in Spooner Wisconsin was a success and outright fun. It was exciting and delightful to finally have a show of over 40 of my figure studies and glamour work. There is a very good chance Black Iris will also be hosting a solo exhibit of my color cuba work in September 2010. Watch for more news here, there or by post card.
